How it began...

This blog is beginning as a weight loss journey. it is an attempt to hold myself accountable and figure out what works and what doesn't.
I was 115 pounds throughout my teenage years and my twenties. During that time, I had three babies, lost the weight within six months after each baby and was 115 pounds until I reached thirty. It seemed like overnight I gained 45 pounds, in reality it was probably about a year or two. I hit about 160 pounds and realized I had to do something about it.

My friend and I spent countless hours in the gym, about two hours a day 5 - 6 days a week and the most we ever lost was 10 pounds. We stuck to it pretty religiously for about six months before we gave up. This seemed to happen in bursts, we would go work out religiously, not see any results and quit.

Finally, in March of 2009 I walked into a Herbal Magic location and signed up, very odd for me because I am very cheap and Herbal Magic certainly is not cheap. But I bit the bullet, forked out the money and started. I have to say it was wonderful it worked great and the support and being held accountable by the staff was awesome. I was down to 131 pounds by July 2009 and then we moved out of the city and going in to the office was very difficult.

I managed to keep the weight off and then in December 2009 I got super sick, I got gallstones and it was pretty severe and I had to have major surgery, laparoscopy would not work on me because my gallbladder was swollen, full of scar tissue and fused to my liver and intestines. I was pretty incapacitated for about three months and I ended up gaining about 20 pounds after the surgery, then in August 2010 I quit smoking. That was a great accomplishment, something I never thought I would be able to do but I packed on some more weight.

My top weight I tipped the scale at 170 pounds and my chin dropped to the ground and I said enough is enough. I was at home from work sick and happened to turn on Dr. Oz, usually I try to stay away from the show because there really are way too many things that can be wrong with a person and I don't really want to hear about it. But, I watched this particular show and Tim Ferris was on it talking about his book 4-hour body and Dr. Oz was talking to him and they were talking about his ideas and Dr. Oz was saying that he was surprised when he was reading his book because these things could actually work and that you losing 30 pounds a month with this plan was not uncommon so I figured what the hell let's give it a shot.

I begin this journey at 167.4 pounds 33.8% Body Fat and a BMI of 28.3%. My first day of the new plan was Wednesday July 20, 2011. Beginning measurement are as follows:
